About Coast
Thank you for your interest in Coast Women's Rugby Football Club, 2004 Southern California Rugby Football Union Champions. The main goal of our organization is to encourage and support the desire and ability of the women and youth of southern California to compete in the sport of rugby.
Coast Rugby has been around since the early 1980s. In 1997, the team adopted the nickname "Lobos." Like a real wolf pack, our members grow and change, but we always have a wily group of veterans leading our pack. Wolves are known for their friendly and social traits in spite of the tales of cold-bloodedness. They are always fiercely loyal to their mates and although the packs are highly organized, each member is truly a free spirit.
Like living in the wild, the intensity of rugby creates strong bonds and high emotions, but through all the ups and downs, the family, the pack remains. Coast remains a strong and fun-loving team, and is always searching for ways to promote the athleticism and competitiveness of women through rugby.
Coast ruggers compete in matches organized by the Southern California Rugby Football Union and USA Rugby, as well as tournaments hosted by clubs in California, Arizona, Nevada and elsewhere. Our members are very active in the Southern California rugby community serving on union committees and boards. Many of our players are also referees and serve as coaches and advisers for youth and collegiate teams in the area. |
